In the process I accommodated wrong friendships that eventually side-tracked me from authentically being me. I did get the acceptance but was never quite satisfied with the person that I had become. I’m still learning to embrace femininity; that is, spending hours under the sprinkles of a hot rejuvenating shower, singing in or out of tune depending on how your voice opts to sound that morning. I’m a natural honey- make ups, face ups, pamper ups are nowhere in my morning schedule. But Miss Super Woman ... like Esther in the bible probably has a regime she religiously follows to ensure no spots nor blemish appear on her face. If you ask me to define beauty, chances are I will not take time to give you an explanation from the dictionary; nor will I look around to have a picture to pinpoint from the world around me what it looks like. No, I will simply look within me, smile right back at you and say, “Beauty is me.” One of the best examples I’ve always remembered when sharing about beauty, value and worth is that of an individual with a clean KSH. 50 note in one hand and KSH. 1000 note on the other.
