DATING ME PT. 2

Photography by: Emmanuel 'Walker' Shichende In the previous blog post, I asked a question that in my opinion determines a whole lot when it comes to self-knowledge, self-awareness and the impact it can and will eventually have not just on others but on you. If you missed it, kindly check it out here before proceeding. Among my biggest ruins in life, was choosing to blend in with neutral crowds to figure out who I really was. Crowds whose principles and values were far different from my own. In a bid to feed my hunger to belong especially as a pastor’s kid, I easily but foolishly compromised myself and my morals for the people around me. In the process I accommodated wrong friendships that eventually side-tracked me from authentically being me. I did get the acceptance but was never quite satisfied with the person that I had become. There seemed to be some code language that every clique had. The only reason I felt this way, was because the person I thought i

GROW TO GLOW

Photography by 'Man de Man' Photography I’d like you to stop for a minute and take this journey into the confines of a lady I met called Miss ‘Super Woman’ . I call her so for lack of a better way to describe the way in which she can balance everything she has got to do AND STILL look ‘sweet 16’. At exactly 5:30 am, the alarm goes off. I’m a natural honey- make ups, face ups, pamper ups are nowhere in my morning schedule. But Miss Super Woman ... like Esther in the bible probably has a regime she religiously follows to ensure no spots nor blemish appear on her face. Her body; well refined for sure with her style carefully outlining every asset. Mark you, she manages

PRODIGAL DAUGHTERS, PART 2: IT'S TIME TO MINE

If you ask me to define beauty, chances are I will not take time to give you an explanation from the dictionary; nor will I look around to have a picture to pinpoint from the world around me what it looks like. No, I will simply look within me, smile right back at you and say, “Beauty is me.” One of the best examples I’ve always remembered when sharing about beauty, value and worth is that of an individual with a clean KSH. 50 note in one hand and KSH. 1000 note on the other. The fifty shilling note is said to be brand new, while the other note is crumbled, stepped on and even torn into two at the end. The question always asked is this; does the value of the 1000 shilling note become less valuable than that of the fifty because of its unattractive state? No it doesn’t. The same thing applies to you as a human being my dear friend. You may not feel good about yourself and may question your value and worth in your very own eyes. You may look in the mirror and despise what reflects
